Monday, ANZ (ASX:ANZ) announced the appointment of Nuno Matos, former head of HSBC’s wealth management and personal banking division, as its new CEO, effective July next year. Matos succeeds Shayne Elliott, who is stepping down after nine years.
Stocks immediately fell in response. Over the past five days, they have fallen 6.67% to $29.12.
South32 retracts production forecast
Mining giant Sud32 (ASX:S32) was affected by civil unrest in Mozambique, which followed October’s disputed presidential election. Transportation of raw materials to operations has been disrupted by roadblocks. As a result, the company withdrew its production guidelines and implemented contingency plans.
Over the past five days, shares have fallen 6.78% to $3.44.
Perpetual faces adverse tax rulings
Tuesday, perpetual (ASX:PPT) has warned of possible tax complications with the ATO in relation to the proposed sale of the company’s Wealth Management and Corporate Trust divisions. This could result in a $488 million tax liability and reduce cash receipts. Perpetual disputes the ATO’s position, but the company may have to withhold funds from any proceeds to cover potential liability.
Over the past five days, they have fallen 9.5% to $19.92.
Downer and Ventia face the ACCC
The ACCC says three companies, BGIS and Ventia Services (ASX:VNT) and Spotless, engaged in anticompetitive behavior regarding Department of Defense maintenance contracts in 2019 and 2020. Spotless is a subsidiary of Downer EDI (ASX:DOW). Downer EDI shares closed 5.95% lower on Thursday following the announcement, while Ventia shares fell 23%.
DigiCo REIT to begin trading
DigiCo Infrastructure REIT is set to debut on the ASX after raising $2 billion in Australia’s largest IPO since 2018. The REIT aims to capitalize on growing demand for data centers, driven by the boom of IA, and will hold a portfolio of 13 properties in Australia and North America.
Over the past five days, shares of HMC Capital (ASX:HMC)which launched the REIT, fell 1.62%. However, since the start of the year, they are up 99.84%.
