Austal secures $137 million contract for additional patrol vessels

Austal (ASX:ASB) has been awarded a $137.02 million contract to build two additional Cape Class Advanced Patrol Boats (ECCPBs) for the Australian Border Force (ABF). This extension brings the total number of ECCPBs built by Austal to 12, including eight already delivered since 2020.

Austal is one of Australia’s leading shipbuilders and global defense contractors. The company operates shipyards in Australia, the United States, the Philippines and Vietnam.

The ECCPBs, designed and built by Austal in Western Australia, feature upgraded equipment for up to 32 personnel, enhanced sustainment intelligence systems and advanced maritime surveillance capabilities. These vessels will reinforce maritime patrols on Australia’s northern borders as part of “Operation Sovereign Borders”.

Austal shares are trading up 0.99% at $3.06.
